Each Tuesday, pleasureinlearning brings you Tech Tuesday.  Come back each week for more ways to become efficient and effective in your use of technology.

This article is part of a multi-part series aligned with the KISS principle.  If you missed the first few posts, take time to read the series from the beginning.

Do you work in a cubicle setting?  Do you step away from the teacher workstation during class breaks?  Lock your computer to prevent unauthorized use, but retain open programs and documents.  Use one of the following methods.  You might guess that I prefer the keyboard method.

  • Windows 7: Click the Start Button, then click the arrow next to Shut down.  Choose Lock.
  • Windows 8: Open the Start Screen then click your account name in the top right corner.  Choose Lock.
  • Keyboard: Windows + L (lowercase).
