Sometimes the most important lessons that we offer our students do not directly concern the subjects that we teach. I was deeply touched when a departing student presented me with a small, beautiful sculpture of a seated woman reading a book. The piece was titled “Wisdom.” The student said that she selected the gift because of the inscription beneath the title: “Lifelong love of learning.” She explained that she knew how much I love teaching A&P and how much I enjoy learning more about it every day. Now those are words that will get me out of bed and off to school every morning.
As Mahatma Gandhi said:
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
Enjoy your weekend.
